Who Are We?

We are a community of people who identify within the Asexual and Aromantic Spectrum

We hope to be a safe space for people, young and old, who are discovering their ASPEC identities. A space that is both a community and a comprehensive resource regarding all things ASPEC.

What Is ASPEC?

ASPEC is an acronym that refers to the many identities that fall within the Asexual and Aromantic Umbrellas

ASEXUAL?

Asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction. It is a valid sexual orientation.

An asexual person experiences little to no sexual attraction to others, regardless of gender.

AROMANTIC?

Aromanticism is the lack of romantic attraction. It is a valid romantic orientation.

An aromantic person experiences little to no romatic attraction to others, regardless of their gender.

SPLIT ATTRACTION MODEL (SAM)?

The Split Attraction Model or SAM separates sexual orientation and romantic orientation into different identities. It is a model often used by the ASPEC community to separate their sexual and romantic identities.

It iterates that how a person experiences attraction can be split into categories, and that people might experience sexual and romantic attractions very differently.

For example, a person may choose to identify as a gay and aromantic man, or an asexual and bi-romantic woman, etc.
